Dear Parents and Carers,

Following the Prime Minister's announcement on Monday we are looking forward to welcoming back all our pupils on Monday 8th March.

I'm sure that some of you, and some of your children, may be apprehensive about the return to school, but I want to reassure you that I believe our children will be safe in school. We have had over 40% of children from Reception to Year 6 attending during lockdown and Nursery has been open as usual. During that time there have been no confirmed cases of Covid-19 among pupils or staff. All staff are being tested twice a week and we are following our strict safety measures which include strict bubbles, frequent hand washing, wearing of masks for visitors, enhanced cleaning during the day and social distancing. Also since lockdown the R rate in Witney has dropped dramatically.

On our return we will continue with safety measures which will include staggered start and finish times. Details of these start and finish times will be sent out as soon as they are finalised. Adults will have to wear face coverings on the school grounds, maintain strict social distancing of 2 meters and we will insist on children being accompanied by only 1 adult. More details of our safety measures will be sent out separately next week.

During our first week back we will have extra wellbeing lessons and focus on welcoming the children back to school giving them plenty of opportunities to discuss their feelings and any worries they have. I know some parents are concerned about lost learning due to lockdown and once we have assessed what exactly the needs of the children are we will share our plans for tackling this. However, our first priority will be ensuring a happy and successful return to school for our children.

Breakfast Club and After School club will resume on March 8th. If you need this provision please contact the school office.

Finally, I would just like to thank you for your support over the last 2 months and the amazing job you have done homeschooling your children. I look forward to seeing you and your children on March 8th.

Paul Thomas
